Join us on an upcoming trip to Costa Rica!
On the slopes of the Poás volcano in the province of Alajuela in Costa Rica, an orphanage called Regalos de Dios is being opened. Working in conjunction with PANI (Patronato Nacional de la Infancia, the national child protection services department in Costa Rica), LeGrandMission is currently drawing up plans for homes, a school, a gymnasium/chapel, meal area with commercial kitchen, guard house, playground, and more.
The land pictured is our newly purchased land, approved by local authorities. It is almost 6 acres and is currently home to coffee plants and sugarcane. It has a beautiful creek at the back of the property. Currently we have 2 homes that can house up to 6 children each. The 3rd building serves as an administrative building for staff and also has the orphanage kitchen and eating area where children will eat all their meals. Future plans include up to 8 additional homes. Each home will have a maximum of 10 children. The homes will have bedrooms, bathroom facilities, a full kitchen, office for the home parents and a covered outdoor laundry area. Eight homes are proposed, starting one at a time to be built quad-style.
Weather in San Pedro de Poás is beautiful with warm days and cool nights. The property has a view of the Poás volcano and the valleys below it. San Pedro de Poás is 30 minutes away from Juan Santamaría airport in San Jose.
Construction teams will stay next door at dormitories LeGrandMission started in 2019. This will cut down on transportation costs and costs for room/board. The dormitories are pictured in the middle at the bottom the the photo with the orange roof.
Our initial fundraising goal is $1,235,000. Property: $560,000 Legal Fees (Costa Rica): $1,500 Accounting Fees: $3,500 Initial Buildings Goal $625,000 Van Purchase/Travel Cost: $45,000
We would be honored if you would join us on this journey.
