Join us on an upcoming trip to Costa Rica!
Our mission is to provide a stable home for each child that will provide the love, attention, education and emotional support the child needs while teaching them to use their gifts, faith, and talent to make their world a better place.
Our mission is to take care of the forgotten kids, those that are abandoned, abused or orphaned; kids that are particularly at risk. We want to change the child's life so they can, in turn, make their world a better place. We want to love the unloved, care for the forgotten and save the lost.
LeGrandMission will bring groups from the U.S. to help build the orphanage , along with Costa Rican volunteers and board members. We will also employ all local Costa Ricans to build and run the orphanage. Our trips will combine work, adventure, service, and community while showing love and compassion to those who need it most.
At some point in our lives we all have probably said, "Why doesn't someone do something about ____." (You fill in the blank) The fact is we rarely tend to act on that initial thought.
We found that there is a need in Costa Rica, a place we love, to care for our most vulnerable: orphans and neglected/abandoned children. This is a need in an area where we are able and willing to help, so we acted.
Currently we have 2 finished homes and administrative building. Each of the 2 homes can house 6 children. We have renovated the kitchen in the administrative building to accomodate all 12 children. We are working with PANI (Costa Rican child services) to be approved to care for 12 children. We have been approved by the Ministry of Health and hold a 5-year license.
Additional homes will be built, as needed. The plan is for 8 homes total. Each home will have 10 children or less and they will live as family units. A 5.7 acre piece of property will hold a gymnasium/multiuse area, 8 homes, a dining hall with kitchen, an office, guard shack, and a playground.
We are in the pre-planning process for a second possible location.
Every child deserves a loving home in which to grow.
We will make the world a better place, one child at a time.
Our initial fundraising goal is $1.235 million
We closed on the property July 2022.
On the property will be:
* 8 homes, approximately 2,000 square feet
Each home will have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for the children, an office, a kitchen/dining area, study room and outdoor covered laundry facilities
* Multiuse Building
* Guard Shack
* Wall around property
* Dining hall/kitchen
* Playground
* Maintenance Building/Garage
* Staff office
We are currently working on the per-building cost to build and will be completed after our architect has final plans drawn.
